Air Canada Refreshes Signature Class on 787 Routes Including Toronto–Delhi
Air Canada's refurbishment of 787-9 Dreamliner interiors includes updated Signature Class seats with improved cushioning and enhanced IFE on routes including Toronto–Delhi and Toronto–London.
Air Canada has completed an interior refresh programme on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, with changes now reaching the aircraft that operate the Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Delhi Indira Gandhi (DEL) nonstop. The update focuses on improving seat cushioning and installing the latest Panasonic Avionics eX3 in-flight entertainment system across Signature Class.
What Changed in Signature Class
- Seat cushioning: Updated foam density for improved pressure distribution on 14+ hour flights
- IFE screens: Larger 18-inch touchscreen displays (up from 15.4 inches)
- USB-A and USB-C power: Now at every seat (previously USB-A only)
- Connectivity: Faster in-flight Wi-Fi via Ku-band satellite on refitted aircraft
- Seat configuration: 1-2-1 layout unchanged — direct aisle access maintained for all seats
Not a Full Cabin Replacement
It is important to note this is a refresh, not a full seat replacement. Air Canada Signature Class retains its existing fully flat-bed seats (78-inch lie-flat length); the update improves comfort rather than replacing the bed itself. The cabin product remains competitive but does not match the full suite privacy offered by Qatar QSuite or the new Cathay Aria Suite on transpacific routes.
Business class fares from Toronto to Delhi on Air Canada remain approximately CAD $4,200–$5,800 round trip, reflecting the airline's premium positioning versus Air India's CAD $3,000–$3,500 on the same nonstop route.
